Charoite is a new gem on the market, first appearing in 1978. It is found only in one location in Siberia, Russia. The color and patterns are quite unique, with swirling shapes of lavender and violet. It is sometimes described as having the appearance of a purple marble. Charoite has a hardness of 4.5 to 5.0 on the Mohs scale.
