Jade

What was traditionally called jade is in fact two separate and distinct minerals: jadeite and nephrite. The term 'jade' can also be loosely applied to materials that contain jadeite or nephrite, such as maw-sit-sit and other materials. Jade has been treasured for centuries by cultures around the world, including the Mesoamericans and the Chinese, who consider it to be an auspicious gem.
